2.7% of Brighton Population are Jedi

Click here for the Census Results It’s official. In fact it’s been official for a while now, but the news has only recently reached me that overall, 0.7% of the UK population quoted their religion as “Jedi” in the last official Government census.

An email campaign spearheaded the drive to force the UK Government into making Jedi an official UK religion. After some concerns that anyone entering their religion as Jedi would be thrown down a very deep well, the government eventually – and certainly with a sigh of resignation – conceded that those of the Jedi faith could express it on the census form.

Well, I have just found out something moderately interesting about the UK distribution of Jedi: there are more Luke Skywalkers in Brighton than anywhere else. Of the 247,817 people recorded in the town, no less than 6,480 expressd their religion on the form as Jedi, representing 2.6 per cent of the Brighton population.

It’s only a small and mischievious example of civil disobedience, but you have to admit it’s a funny one. I rather wish I’d done it myself now! The official ranked results are HERE if you want to check up on your town and see how many masters of the light sabre might be living close to you!
